In December of 2012, I boarded a plane and flew to Tampa, Florida USA where my home would be for the next 2 years as I attended Bible School at the River Bible Institute. Little did I know, there was a certain tall, blonde haired and blue-eyed New Yorker also preparing to attend the same school.
We met in the car park one night before College Night – no, it wasn’t romantic. In fact, he just didn’t want to walk in alone so he waited until someone else arrived. We got to know each other a little more in the upcoming weeks as we were put on the same Soul Winning team. There was still no romance – in fact, I called him the wrong name half of the time.
A year later, everything changed as we started spending much more time together, going on fun adventures and hanging out with friends. I noticed his servant heart and faithful attitude and of course the fact that he was actually quite a good looking stud.
We dated for 8 months before making the decision to fly to South Africa to spend the next year interning at my family’s church and also allowing Chad to get to know and spend time with my family (and the culture that I come from). March 18th 2015, Chad took me on a beautiful hike in Tsitsikamma where he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.
I adore this man that I have prayed for since I was 16 years old and I look forward to a lifetime of adventures with him. His godliness, pure heart and sensitivity to the Holy Spirit encourages me, motivates me and teaches me.
We became Mr & Mrs Spencer on December 4th, 2015 … and my FAVORITE thing about married life so far is that every night is like a slumber party with my best friend!
